As you can see, “perpetual dawnne” has officially moved to its new (old) domain here at dawnne.com. The new feed address is feeds.feedburner.com/PerpetualDawnne.
I hope you like the new layout, and as you can see, I’ve did quite a bit of re-crafting of the categories into a semblance of organization that at least makes sense to me. I will be adding other sites to the blogroll as time goes on. Right now, of course, I am trying to balance time spent here and on the otherwhirled, with client work, house work, and child raising. So, we’ll see how things go. But at least I can use regular XHTML in my posts now without it having stripped by the public wordpress site.
I’ll try to have some kitten updates later this week, and I also want to get back to doing more writing in general. I can’t promise a time-frame, because the clients and family really do have to come first. I was frankly amazed I didn’t have to stay up all night just to everything finished as it was!

One of the main reasons I wanted to move over to my own servers here was so that I could take advantage of the All-In-One SEO Pack. This is a great WordPress plugin that allows for the direct management of how a blog is presented to the public in terms of the all-important “META” information. If I had been using SEO when I wrote some of the rice-bowling stuff, the former incarnation of the otherwhirled might well have been entirely overwhelmed with visitors searching for nude photos of Condoleezza Rice. But getting hits isn’t the only reason to use the All-In-One SEO Pack. Helping channel users to the exact content they’re looking for is actually a good thing. What could be more annoying than doing a search on black women in politics and winding up getting a suggestive photoshop hack of Condoleezza in a bathtub? eek!
Well, okay, a lot of things could be worse than that, but I’m sure you get the point.
I also wanted better control of the format of links to comments and trackbacks, which I’m using the aptly-named Get Recent Comments plugin for. And which I’ll probably be tweaking over the next few weeks, lol.
And then there was server space. I’m an ambitious bastard, and even though I had only used 12% of my 50Mb allotment on the public WordPress, I could easily read the writing on the wall.
There are some other plugins I’ve been itching to try. I tried a few, and they were unfortunately programmed in such a way that made the site run slower than molasses in January with its shoes tied together. I mean, like, I could write over-bloated ColdFusion code that runs faster. So, I’ll spare you such as those and leave the experimentation to late at night so that I won’t impact anyone.

Okay, look. I’ll post some “real stuff” sometime today. But, since there’s a few of us who dabble and/or excel in photographic snarkery, I believe it is prudent for me to ensure that I don’t duplicate anyone’s efforts. When I finally got done attempting to turn portions of my flesh into charcoal this weekend, I came home, showered, played with the cats (it’s great being able to play with several pussies even when my wife is out of town!), had a couple of beers, sat down with the intention of making a few late-evening posts, and wound up doing client work until about 2:00 a.m. instead, because I’m either really dedicated or was jonesing for some sort of semi-valid excuse to sleep late this morning.
So, I got up a little after 9:00 and started playing catch-up on the blog front, which meant a boat load of reading. And I’m still not done, and won’t be for a bit yet. But, in the meantime, I thought I’d share some recent posts from around the blogosphere that I believe are worthy of your perusal. I know most of you probably already visit these sites or get their feeds, but just in case, I wanted to provide them here, because I found them a great way to start my day today.

Howdy friends and neighbors and visitors from around the globe who continue to search for nude photos of Condoleezza Rice and Jeri Thompson’s breasts. I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that Commander Other was doing something this weekend other than commanding the lint in his navel. In fact, he’s spending the bulk of the weekend outdoors in our semi-tropical weather (with wind!) refereeing some soccer matches and photographing other soccer matches. Things around here will return to the normal abnormality on Monday, after what ever time the sunburned and windblown Commander Other drags himself out of bed.
Here’s hoping you all you silly Americans have an enjoyable holiday weekend, and for the rest of you, here’s hoping you’re enjoying whatever it is you do.
